One can imagine, after three years of this abomination, and the desolation it caused them, the joy the Jews felt at throwing out their oppressors and being able to re-dedicate their temple to their God on the third anniversary of its desecration. No wonder that after over two thousand years the Jews still celebrate this anniversary as Hanukkah.
